June 1, 1935 -July 28, 2009
Rev. Ike (also known as Reverend Ike or
Reverend Frederick J. Eikerenkoetter II) was an American minister and speaker
who became well known in the 1970s for his teachings on prosperity and
abundance. He was born on June 1, 1935, in Ridgeland, South Carolina, and
passed away on July 28, 2009.
Rev. Ike's teachings were rooted in the New
Thought movement and the concept of the Law of Attraction, which suggests that
positive thinking and visualization can lead to material and spiritual
abundance. He preached a message of empowerment and encouraged his followers to
think positively about their finances and their lives.
Rev. Ike also founded the United Church of
Jesus Christ for All People, which was headquartered in New York City. He
became a controversial figure due to his flamboyant style and his teachings on
material wealth, which some critics saw as promoting greed and materialism.
Nevertheless, he continued to be a popular speaker and author until his death.
